SATURDAY 29th OCTOBER 2011 at 1.00 pm

Parliament House Lawns, Hobart

Down Syndrome Tasmania held it's second annual Buddy Walk on Saturday 29 October 2011.

The weather was not kind but the day was still well attended by many people.  Following a warm up with our BrightStars dance troupes, members and supporters put on their raincoats and hats to join the walk around the Salamanca area to raise awareness and funds to support people with Down syndrome. This event was not only for people with Down syndrome but for those that have a passion to ensure that people with Down syndrome and their families have every opportunity to reach their full potential.

Buddy Walk 2011 was supported by a barbeque hosted by the Rotary Club of Lindisfarne and was also attended by Special Constables Sam and Kate who were a much loved favourite with the children. The afternoon continued with a craft table run by Officeworks Hobart, The Amazing Ashton in attendance, balloons and many other fun activities for the children.

Approximately $5,000 of much needed funds was raised at the event.  We are hopeful that we are able to support a Buddy Walk in both the North and the South of the State next year
